Lately...

It's been a BEAUTIFUL fall here in Denver. The colors have really come out the past few weeks and the sun is still shining. I'm trying to take time to appreciate the colors before they go away. After a frustrating and emotionally draining work week last week, I think I'm finally starting to get into the swing of things. There is always plenty of work to be done- but I was able to take a "mental health" day last Friday, which was MUCH needed. I went for a run in the beautiful fall weather, ran some errands, did some cleaning, and got to visit a good friend's new baby. Last Saturday, I was able to visit my friends at the organic farm they live on outside of Boulder. We went on a hay ride, had a potluck, and watched people carve pumpkins. It was nice to get out of the city for a bit and be with old college friends who know you so well. Fall Foliage

Even though I feel like my weeks have been crazy busier and my weekends have been nonexistent lately, I made time to go on a day hike with an old college friend this past weekend. We hiked up by Berthoud's Pass. It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day, but there was the smell of smoke in the air from the wildfire that started just west of Fraser. We need rain here in Colorado. It's been an abnormally warm fall. We have two weeks left before some friends and I run the Denver Rock 'n' Roll half marathon, so I'm hoping it's in the 60s and sunny by then :). Lack of sleep and overload at work and things going on outside of work have certainly made me cranky at times. I hate that I find myself getting easily offended or short with people because of it. I'm thankful for good friends, family, and students that bring smiles to my faces and make me laugh. It certainly gives me hope that this time of busyness will pass.
